Korea Post fully implements mail-in recycling of heated tobacco devices.

According to the Seoul News Agency, the Postal Headquarters of the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea announced on the 10th that since signing a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the Environmental Foundation, and Philip Morris Korea in December 2025 , the "mail-in recycling" of heated tobacco devices has been fully implemented in the national post office network.

Consumers can place used heated tobacco devices (limited to products manufactured by Philip Morris Korea) into designated recycling bags provided by local post offices , and then choose one of two methods to return them: either hand them over to the nearest post office counter or drop them directly into a mailbox. After collection, the post offices will distribute the devices to recycling companies for safe and standardized disposal.

Since no additional registration or complicated steps are required, delivery and recycling can be completed using only existing postal infrastructure, which can reduce environmental pollution caused by illegal disposal or neglect, increase recycling rates, and promote the establishment of a resource circulation system.

Korea Post points out that heated tobacco products typically contain batteries and electronic components. Therefore, environmental concerns regarding their disposal persist. A safe and systematic recycling system has been established utilizing the nationwide postal logistics network and postal infrastructure.

In addition to heated tobacco products, Korea Post is also simultaneously promoting the mail-in recycling of items such as discarded medicines and disposable coffee capsules.
