The Ministry of Strategy and Finance of South Korea announced on the 18th that the total domestic tobacco sales in South Korea in 2024 will be 3.53 billion packs, a decrease of 2.2% from the previous year (3.61 billion packs).<\/span>Domestic tobacco sales in South Korea have declined for two consecutive years since 2022.<\/span>

  • Traditional cigarettes:<\/span>Actual cigarette sales, including duty-free cigarettes, also fell 1.7% to 3.68 billion packs last year from the previous year (3.74 billion packs). Duty-free cigarette sales increased 11.9% to 151 million packs from the previous year (135 million packs).<\/span><\/strong>

  • Heated cigarettes<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\uff1a<\/span><\/span>Sales of heated cigarettes reached 660 million packs, up 8.3% year-on-year<\/span><\/span>\u3002<\/span>Its participation in total tobacco sales also continued to rise, reaching 18.4%. In 2017, it was 2.2%, rising to 10.5% in 2019, reaching 14.8% in 2022, and 16.9% in 2023.<\/span>
