TOBACCOVILLE, N.C. \u2014 Reynolds American is expanding production at its operations center in Tobaccoville, with plans to add 300 jobs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reynolds American Senior Corporate Communications Manager Emily Weeks confirmed to WFMY that the expansion is to accommodate for Velo Plus, the company's brand of smokeless nicotine pouches.<\/p>\n

The jobs added will be a mix of local manufacturing and national trade marketing roles, according to Borgia Walker, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Inclusion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Reynolds facility in Tobaccoville opened in the fall of 2024. The company said they hired for over 500 jobs last year, the majority of which were \"directly related to our expanding smokeless portfolio ... and aligning our sales force to be even more competitive in the market.\"<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Back in 2022, WFMY News 2 reported that\u00a0Reynolds had planned to cut 350 manufacturing jobs\u00a0through 2024 as three of its facilities were relocated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\"Reynolds believes our multi-category strategy advances Tobacco Harm Reduction, and we are fully committed to being part of the solution to create a positive change in public health outcomes,\" Reynolds said in a press release. \"We have an opportunity to offer adult smokers who do not wish to quit tobacco products altogether evidence-based, innovative product choices that are potentially less risky than traditional combustible cigarettes.\"<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Reynolds, the Tobaccoville operations center, which measures over 2,000,000 square feet, is the largest manufacturing center among the subsidiaries that make up the British American Tobacco (BAT) Group.<\/p>\n
