According to a recent report by DT, the results of the \u201c2024 Community Health Survey\u201d released by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on the 22nd show that the current usage rate of tobacco products among South Koreans is 22.6%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from last year. The rate among men decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 39.7%, while the rate among women rose by 0.3 percentage points to 5.2%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The number of female smokers continues to rise. Despite a decline in the male smoking rate, the female smoking rate has increased by approximately 2.0% over the past five years. The number of e-cigarette users has significantly increased for both genders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2019, the usage rate of tobacco products among men has remained stable within the range of 39-40%. However, the number of women using tobacco products continues to rise. It slightly decreased from 3.2% in 2019 to 3.0% in 2020 but has increased for four consecutive years to 3.3% in 2021, 4.2% in 2022, and 4.9% in 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The regular smoking rate among men has dropped from 41.6% in 2015 to 34.0% this year, while the rate among women has risen from 2.7% to 3.9%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The usage rate of e-cigarettes has increased from 5.1% in 2019 to 8.7% this year. Among men, it rose from 9.4% in 2019 to 14.8%, and among women, it increased from 1.0% to 2.5%.<\/strong><\/p>\n
