Abstract: Electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) or electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) are gaining popularity among adolescents. Despite containing fewer harmful substances than traditional cigarettes, they still pose health threats. A study comparing aerosol toxicity of third-generation (Tank) and fourth-generation (JUUL) e-cigarette devices reveals that JUUL's aerosol, at the same number of puffs, exhibits stronger cytotoxicity, higher ROS levels, more inflammatory factors, and DNA damage. Introducing serum nicotine levels to assess e-cigarette exposure provides a more accurate reflection of actual nicotine intake. The toxicity differences primarily arise from device design, emphasizing the significance for e-cigarette regulatory policies and public health. Future research could further explore mechanisms, impact on user health, and long-term effects.<\/em><\/p>\n
